Diabetic  foot care is the prevention, treatment and management of an individuals feet.

People with diabetes are prone to foot problems because diabetes may cause damage to blood vessels and nerves. This damage may  result in the inability to sense trauma to the foot or pressure on the foot. People who have diabetes should seek regular appointments at a foot care clinic so that a foot care professional can assess, develop, review and plan a treatment regimen for them.

Sarah Ann's Foot Care Services provides treatment regimens and recommends that people who have diabetes have ongoing foot care treatments at least every 6 to 8 weeks and more often if foot issues are present.

Sarah Ann's Foot Care Service uses stainless steel implements wrapped in individual packages that are sterilized in our state of the art autoclave to ensure proper sterilization.  All instruments used during your foot care session first go into our ultrasonic cleaner to loosen any debris found on the instruments then we package each set of tools in individual sterilized packages before they go into our autoclave to ensure they remain sterile to the point of use.  All instruments used during your foot care sesssion is open right in front of you. Your safety is our first priority, so you can rest assure that your foot care treatment is provided with the utmost sanitation.

Our foot care sessions end with a moisturizing foot massage after every session.

Here are some helpful tips to care for your feet:
  • Rotate between shoes on a regular basis (2-3 pairs)
  • Shoes should fit properly. Soft leather or neoprene uppers allow any foot deformities to be cushioned and minimize pressure.
  • Never buy shoes that do not fit properly.
  • Inspect your feet everyday. If you cant reach your feet to inspect them use a mirror or have someone check your feet.
  • Do not put lotion between toes.
  • Soften dry skin with lotion, lanolin or oil.
  • Wear clean dry socks everyday.
  • Avoid wearing stockings or socks with seams that can cause pressure points.
  • Exercise daily to promote good circulation.
