What happens once I purchase the course?
Upon purchase, you will be contacted and emailed login access to the course you are enrolled in.
Is there a time period to complete the diabetic and advanced foot care course?
The course is delivered in a cohort-based online format, it typically takes up to six weeks to complete the self-directed theory portion of the course. Practicum commences two weeks after theory completion.
What is your refund policy?
Due to the nature of the content delivery, and practicum no refunds are provided once a person has logged into a course.
Do you provide ongoing support after course completion?
Yes, we provide our students with ongoing support after successfully completing the foot care course to ensure they are successful in starting their new career.
How is the course delivered?
The theory is delivered online and it is self-directed Practicum is in person. Please note Practicum is located in Barrie Ontario.
Practicum is MANDATORY Full Attendance is required.
How many hours does a typically foot care nurse work?
This all depends on you, you can work as little as 4 hours a day or 8+ hours a day. Nursing foot care is very flexible.
What is the cost of the Advanced Foot Care Nurse program?
Currently, the cost is $3,000.00+Taxes
Where is practicum held?
Practicum is held in Barrie Ontario and usually takes place on a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Do I need to buy supplies for this course?
No, the foot care supplies are optional.
Will I be able to practice nursing foot care upon completion of the course?
Upon successful completion of our course, you will have acquired the foundational skills and knowledge needed to provide nursing foot care. However, to practice nursing foot care professionally, you must meet specific regulatory and licensing requirements, which vary by location.
Is the Advanced Nursing Foot Care Course recognized?
Yes. The program provides advanced nursing foot care education and hands-on clinical training for licensed nurses and is designed to align with Canadian advanced nursing foot care competencies.
The term “recognized” can mean different things depending on what you require the course for — for example, employment, professional development, insurance, contracting opportunities or future certification. There is no single regulatory designation in Ontario that recognizes one advanced nursing foot care continuing-education course over all others.
When comparing foot care education programs, nurses should consider the curriculum, clinical training, professional standards, cost and whether the program meets their individual learning and practice needs.
Is the course approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)?
The College of Nurses of Ontario does not have an approval or endorsement process for advanced nursing foot care specialty courses or certifications.
CNO expects nurses to determine the education and experience they require to develop and maintain the knowledge, skill and judgment necessary to provide safe and competent nursing care. This applies to nurses completing advanced foot care education through any education provider.
Does the course follow Canadian advanced nursing foot care competencies?
Yes.
The collaborative Advanced and Diabetic Nursing Foot Care Program is designed to align with the Canadian Association of Foot Care Nurses (CAFCN) Competency Framework for Advanced Nursing Foot Care in Canada.
The CAFCN framework identifies national competencies for advanced foot care nursing practice and is intended to guide nurses, educators, employers and other health-care stakeholders
Does completing the course give me CNA Foot Care Nursing Certification?
No. CNA certification is a separate credential.
The Canadian Nurses Association offers Foot Care Nursing (Canada) Certification — FCN(C) through a portfolio-based certification process.
Advanced nursing foot care education, clinical experience and other evidence of professional competency may form part of a nurse’s portfolio when applying for certification. Nurses must independently meet CNA’s eligibility and certification requirements.
Will employers and health-care organizations accept this course?
Yes. Graduates receive documentation confirming completion of advanced nursing foot care education and hands-on clinical training.
Employers, long-term care homes, retirement homes and other health-care or contracting organizations may establish their own education, experience or documentation requirements. If you are completing the program for a specific position or contract, you may wish to confirm any additional requirements directly with that organization.
Will I receive a certificate after completing the program?
Yes.
Upon successful completion of all required theory and clinical components, students receive a Certificate of Completion from Sarah Ann’s Foot Care EDU.
